Introducing the Notley Fellowship

While growing BuildASign.com, I had the great fortune to work with amazing, brilliant, motivated young professionals. In Austin, there are many incredible young leaders emerging in promising careers across a broad spectrum of industries. One of the challenges they face is how to expand their engagement, experience, and growth beyond the walls of their offices. Connecting with other young community leaders, joining boards, jumping in on projects, and creating valuable mentor/mentee relationships isn't easy, especially when you are heads-down in a quickly-growing, fast-paced organization.

Notley's mission is to help tackle our world’s toughest problems by bringing the best minds, strategies, and entrepreneurial spirits to the table; we constantly see the opportunity to foster the type of leaders that our community needs. The Notley Fellowship borrows from the models of multiple amazing organizations like the Aspen Institute, Leadership Austin, Entrepreneurs Organization, and UT’s Board Fellows to create something I know will be really special.

The Notley Fellowship is the newest Notley initiative, designed for young professionals who are hungry to elevate their impact in the community.

With applications opening today, the Fellowship aims to catch emerging leaders early in their career and provide direction, guidance, and acceleration in areas of growth in which they are passionate. We are looking for Fellows who desperately want to do good while doing great, and we want to do everything we can to make their passions come to life. The Notley Fellowship focuses on innovative solutions, entrepreneurial approaches, and hands-on project support through the growth and cultivation of our community's next generation of visionaries.

This is a unique opportunity for promising young professionals to step into a program that facilitates co-ownership over entrepreneurial projects that tackle Austin’s toughest challenges.  An amazing lineup of speakers will be visiting with the Notley Fellows each month, answering questions, and helping connect them to resources that will enable them to build an unparalleled network in Austin’s business, nonprofit, and government sectors. We carefully select our speakers in concert with our Fellows to make sure we are creating inspiring, educational and engaging experiences.

Speakers include:

Wendy Davis: Wendy Davis is the founding director of Deeds Not Words, a non-profit that seeks to empower and activate the voices of young women.
Mayor Steve Adler: Since 2015, Mayor Steve Adler has served as Austin's 52nd mayor after 35 years practicing civil law.
Meredith Walker: Meredith Walker is the Executive Director and cofounder of Amy Poehler's Smart Girls, an organization dedicated to helping young people cultivate their authentic selves.
Gerardo Interiano: Gerardo Interiano serves as Google's Head of External Affairs for the Southwest U.S. and is  actively engaged in the nonprofit community.
